Today Mommy Oh and I walk the streets of Macau and try local food, including spicy black pepper pork buns! You are invited to watch the video here:

Before the trip, I bookmarked a bunch of places on my Google map that were near our hotel. Needless to say, there are TONS more spots to eat than what I listed here! During our customized food tour, we stroll through Rua da Felicidade (Happiness Street), Senado Square and have a digestive intermission while seeing the Ruins of St. Paul's.

I discovered that Macau street food differs from, for example, Bangkok street food. In Bangkok, many street food stalls are on wheels. In Macau, street food is given from a shop with an open storefront as you’ll see with Dai Gwan and Hung Heng (#6 and #9).

The featured places in the order they appear in the video and how we encountered them:

1. Rua da Felicidade (Happiness Street)

Once a red light district, Rua da Felicidade is now home to local food.

Red pants, red screens… We’re twinning! The architecture at Rua da Felicidade is Instagram-worthy.

2. Tai Lei Loi Kei

GPS Coordinates: 22.193949, 113.540765
Note: There are multiple locations. The one featured in the video is located on Tv. de São Domingos (next to “Taste of Portugal” and nearby “Boa Mesa.”)

After reading some mixed reviews online, I decided to try Tai Lei Loi Kei for myself.

Tip: One must squeeze down the Pork Chop Pineapple Bun to fit it in the mouth. Please excuse the blurry style of this photo. These are screenshots from my video.

Mommy Oh enjoyed the Pork Bun Toast more than I did and she doesn’t usually enjoy pork! Overall Tai Lei Loi Kei was decent, but I’ll be trying other shops next time we visit Macau.

3. Margaret's Café e Nata

Margaret's Café e Nata egg tart for 10 MOP ($1.25 US, according to today’s currency exchange).

4. Senado Square

5. LemonCello Gelato

Take a bite before the heat licks it off! Green Tea and Yakult gelato in a cone that reads “Firenze.” Firenze in English translates to Florence.

LemonCello sells a flavor called LemonCello. Mommy Oh says it tastes like “harmony of lemon.”

6. Dai Gwan (胡椒餅)

I can’t read Chinese, but not certain if the Romanization is correct. Another source spells the shop as “Dijun Taiwan Pepper Cake.”

Dai Gwan was tricky to find. The address that was given to me online was a couple buildings off. Just look for this storefront with printed images of pepper buns!

7. Choi Heong Yuen Bakery

Choi Heong Yuen Bakery is very close to the Ruins of St Paul.

8. Ruins of St. Paul's

9. Cocos Hung Heng

We opened the lid and the its shape was molded into the coconut ice cream. LOL.

The coconut ice cream may look plain, but it was tasty and refreshing. Thus creates this goofy smile. Makes you so happy that you don’t care about the blackheads on your nose!
